Cave City, KY

Cave City, Ky is a hidden gem in an otherwise boring stretch of highway on I-65 in Ky, south of Louisville at exit 53. If coming from the north, you may miss the exit if you don't know what to look for. If coming from the South however, you will have ample warning in the shape of a hung orange Tyrannosaurus Rex. The attractions are very gimmicky but that's what makes it so great! There is Froggett's Guntown Mountain (formerly Guntown Mountain, then Funtown Mountain) an old Wild West town, Dinosaur World, Jellystone mini golf, and the Alpine Slide at Kentucky Action Park. If you're staying the night I recommend Wigwam VIllage #2, which was built in 1937 and is one of three (out of seven) left in the country. Also in the area is Mammoth Cave and Zip Lining in the Mammoth Cave National Park. You can easily spend a full day between these attractions and meandering about the gift shops of obscure items typically not found in your standard gift shop. The Olde General Store is a fantastic place to find all types of random memorabilia. As an added bonus, just up the road in Munfordville, KY is Kentucky Stonehenge. It's located in in someone's yard so please be respectful if you visit.
